Thanksgiving and The Christmas Spirit

Wow, it's been a while!! So here is where we are. Thanksgiving was lame. It always is for me. I am VERY Thankful for all that I have and my family and yada yada yada, but the Holiday itself is just lame to me. I didn't even eat one bit of Turkey at all on Thanksgiving, that's how lame I am! Slayder and I went over to my momma's house and hung out with the family while Sam stayed home and fed all the stragalers that didn't really have a place to go. I was okay with that, really I was. Shoot, if they stayed at my house, that meant I wasn't bringing them to my moms! LoL So Slayder and I had a good time hanging out with the Family, we went to show everyone the new house that my mom just bought, he ate Turkey and the fixins, and played with all his cousins. He had fun. I guess that's whats important right!

And so we come to the Holiday Spirit. I recently found out some not so good info about my health, that has really stepped up my 'Christmas Cheer' I suppose you could say. We've got our tree, it's up and decorated, and the decorations are all up around the house. I know that's not a huge deal to anyone else, who does all that no problem the day after Thanksgiving, but usually we do it like a week before Christmas. I am a Scrooge. Big Time. Was. I am no longer a Scrooge. I am enjoying that Slayder loves the Tree this year, that all's he wanted was to help cut it down, and decorate it, and is totally gaga over the collection of robots (nutcrackers) my grandma gave me this year. He is so easily pleased. That makes me happy too. I'm pretty sure this is going to be the best Christmas yet. Yep, almost positive it is.

His First Real Halloween

His first Real Halloween. I was quite certain he would have nothing to with the whole trick or treating part, but I did think he would love wearing a costume. I was wrong. On both of em. I bought him a Pirate Costume... Ofcourse he said he wanted to be a Pirate because he has a Pirate Dora movie and he is obsessed with it.

Nope. Did NOT want to be a pirate. Did NOT want to be anything for that matter. As far as he was concerned, he was NOT dressing up in and anything and going anywhere. I forced the Pirate outfit on, simply for the pics, and I thought since his big brother and big sister were dressing up too, he would be all excited. NOPE. Exactly 2 minutes after the pictures he tore the costume off and said he was taking a nap. I told him we were going to a Trunk or Treat and that he would get lots of candy... He. Said. NO. So the twins, my cousins and I went!
Then we got to the evening. ((When we are suppose to actually go Trick-or-Treating)). I had run into K-mart for some face paint for the twins and come across the Dino outfit. I figured it would be better than the Pirate, plus he has a Diego Dino movie and is currently obsessed with Dinosaurs. ((See the trend...?)) So I take it home, stuff him in it, and take some pics. Exactly 2 minutes after pictures, he tore it off and said he wasn't wearing it. I'm not sure exactly what his deal is with dressing up? Maybe it's the whole, he prefers to be naked thing. I mean, why would he want more clothes on to just have to take off when he decides it's naked time? I guess I can see his point.

I put his costume back on and snapped a quick shot of him and his cute little cousin Jordyn ((She LOVED her costume!), and then off we go.
He was chewing gum (it's the one thing that makes him quit crying), when he went up to the first house...

He got to the door...

The lady put a piece of candy in his pumpkin...

He turned around spit his gum in my hand and said...

"MOMMA! I GOT CANDY!"

It was over from there.

He did really good leaving the candy in the bucket till the end, and at one point I yelled at the older kids for leaving the younger kids behind, but once Jordyn and Slayder (both 2) realized what was happening, they were leaving the big kids in the dust.
I'm glad he liked it. Plus, he forgot he had on that stupid costume... until we get back to the truck!

A Haircut...

Have you ever noticed how, when it comes to your kid(s), you would basically cut your arm off and hand it to them if they needed it? There is no love, like the way you love your child. That brings me to, WHY DO THEY HAVE TO GROW SO DARN FAST?? I got Slayder a haircut this past weekend... and NOW he looks like a little man. WHO DOES THAT? When it's longer, he looks more like a baby, more like he should look. Forever. (If it were up to me ofcourse)! But then I tried to give him a mohawk, and boy that didn't turn out for me... lol Either way, he ended up with a reverse mullet and I had to take him to get it fixed... PRONTO! I mean, I'm all for the mullet, if that's how you wanna wear your hair, but for my boy? Nah! and Reverse, NO NO NO! I had me one of those once... and I liked it! lol

Here are some before, mullet, and after pics...

These were all taken within a week of eachother. Yet to me, they look like 3 totally different boys! Right!? Wow.

It Kills Me...

Ya know, sometimes I wanna just wake up in the morning and not worry about what time it is. I want to roll over, look at the clock and say 'shoot, it's only 8:30', don't have anywhere to be today! I want Slayder to wake me up when he gets up and climbs in my bed to 'cuddle' and watch 'hanny manny', as he calls it. However, that is NOT how it goes. Okay, for 2 morning a week, that is how it goes... but the other mornings go something like this:

  • 6:09am - hit the snooze
  • 6:18am - hit the snooze
  • 6:27am - shit, I'm going to be late.
  • 6:30am - Get me up, brush teeth, throw on clothes
  • 6:35am - Get slayder up, put him on the couch (where he tries to stay asleep)
  • 6:36am - Get stuff around for day
  • 6:38am - Get Slayder dressed (as HE SCREAMS) and get out the door
  • 6:48am - Turn onto McDevitt street in Vandercook to Slayder saying 'me no go to Aunt Casey's today mommy, me stay with you.'
  • 6:49am - Explain to him for the 1,000,000th time that mommy has to go to work and that I will be back to get him when I'm done. He says 'no go work today mommy, please...'
It absolutely breaks my heart. Like seriously, a small piece of me dies each day. I am waiting for the day, I can be like... wait, I won't have to be like anything, cause we'll be snugglin in bed watchin Dora climb a mountain with her helpful little backpack!

Anyone who gets to be a stay at home mom, appreciate it, because some of us aren't that fortunate!

It makes me sad that...

Slayder has learned how to go to the bathroom on the potty, "like a big boy". I know this should excite me and I should be all 'Yea, no more diapers'... but really, it just makes me sad.

My little man is growing up. Quickly it seems. I'm not sure how we've come to him being as big and old as he is, but I don't like it much! It seems in life we are always wishing for time to go faster... can't wait till your 16, then 18 than 21... and then, what? Why rush it? I remember when Slayder was a baby and I would be like...I can't wait till he can walk, then talk and then... what? Now I want him to be that little baby that couldn't do anything but lay there and smile at me. My Happy Little Baby Boy. Sometimes it seems a week can't go fast enough... just to get to the next weekend. But when you sit back and really watch... it is ALL going fast enough... far too fast if you ask me.

Enough sappy shit.

He is very proud of himself... and loves to show off his 'big boy panties' as he calls them. LoL Where does he get this stuff?

I found the boxer briefs at meijers... I think they are just adorable!!! I guess one good thing, you can tell how cute his little butt is now, without the diaper coverin all the junk in his trunk!

Maybe someday he will grow up to be an underwear model?? LoL You can see from the pics he is very much NOT shy about showing them off!

Ugh, 20 years will be here before we know it ( :( )... I'll keep ya posted!

Getting Older...

My boy is growing up. He talks so much better now, and comprehends a great deal more stuff than he has in just the past couple of months. He is 28.5 months old now. Dang, where does the time go?? I mean really. Where does it go??

Blame it on the...

So we have a blammer. I'm not even sure if that is a real word, but I am using it anyways. Slayder has got to be the biggest blammer I know! It's quite funny now, but I am truely hoping he grows out of it. Here's a few examples:

Momma: Slayder, did you pee your pants?

Slayder: No, Bubba did.

Momma: What? Bubba pee'd in your pants?

Slayder: Yeah, Bubba did it!

That was on vacation in Myrtle Beach this year. It happened more than once and he told the same story both times! Another one:

Gramma: What is on the floor? Slayder did you pee on grandma's kitchen floor?

Slayder: No, I didn't do it, you did!

Gramma: No, you did!

Slayder: No Gramma, you did!!!
This was yesterday when he was at my mom's while we were at volleyball. He was really trying to convince her that she was the one that pee'd on her own floor.

He is all about passing the blame. If he hits you or does something he wasn't suppose to, it wasn't him. It is always someone else.
I hope this doesn't follow him throughout his teen years... I'm pretty sure I was a 'blammer' and boy, I do not want one of me!!! I guess they say your kids get to put you through all the same crap you put yours through...

I can feel the grey hair growing as I type this... and he is only 2!!

Big Airplane

The kids loved it. All of them. I could tell the twins were nervous at first, but once take off was over, they loved it. Slayder, he was awake for both take off's then he'd pass out for most of the rest of the trip. He was so super excited to be going on a BIG AIRPLANE that he wore himself out! Vacation was great... it was hot and sunny almost the entire week, and Slayder loved the ocean. The first day we walked down just to take a look, there was no swimming in it do to the rip tides from the hurricane Bill, but he stared at it and said "W-O-W, that's big water!" It took him a while to get used to the big waves and the salt water on his face... he cried each time it got in his eyes, but then he went right back for it! Seth & Sidnie both just wanted to go out farther and farther... I however am scared of sharks so I won't take them out very far at all!
I guess I am a lame-o chicken butt. Oh well. We went to a place that was basically an Alligator santuary. There were thousands of them. The kids all had a blast there also. They have the largest alligator known in captivity in North America. It was Gi-Normous!!!! Like, freaking huge! They had other animals and reptiles also, it was a really really cool place!
We did lots of shopping and sight see-ing around the town, we went to Lori's Art Museum and looked at the exhibits... and ofcourse we went out to eat! This is Sam's favorite part of Myrtle Beach... a place called 'The Original Benjamins'. Largest Seafood Buffet we've ever seen! It is like 30 bucks a plate, which is a total waste on me, but Sam eats his and my 30 dollars worth. He talks about that place all year, and I'm quite sure the only reason he agrees to go every year is so he can visit the Seafood Buffet! It's an great place to eat, if you like seafood. They have other things also, but majoirty is crab legs and stuff like that, stuff I don't like:) Sucks being picky.
Over-all this was a wonderful vacation again! We stayed in a new place, a 'house' instead of a hotel, and I will never stay in a hotel there again. This place was so much better! Seth got sick while we were there and had to go to the doc and get some meds, Slayder got the runs from all the pool/ocean water... but it was great either way!!

Lori and Sean are the best hosts in the world and help us out so much when we are down there. The twins asked if they could stay and live with Lori and Sean... LoL I'm sure they DON'T want that!! :)

Sam and I at the bar with Lori and Woodie!

Here's mom and Slayder walking down to the beach!

The Best Weekend Yet...

This is the 'stink-eye' as we call it. Apparently my little man is far too big to be in little baby floaties while in a pool that the water is well over his head. What was I thinking? Geez. I was unaware of the fact that since turning 2, he is much too cool for certain things, like dorky helmets and baby floaties... I guess I need to get with the program. My friend JP was home from the Army, and so we made a day of it at her parents pool. The twins ((who are 9 now!!!)) loved it! They have a Slide going into the pool and a Diving board... BONUS! They were all SO not ready to leave! Slayder swam around ALL BY HIMSELF with just a pair of arm floaties on, and was jumping into the shallow end (which was STILL over his head). He went under and it scared him the first time, but after that he was diggin it!
Sid was so showing off for this pic!!
Seth totally did this like 30 times!
We had to leave early to drop Little Man off with Grandma and take Seth & Sidnie to a Lions game... wow! It was an awesome game, but neither one of the twins barely even knew what football was, so the entire game Sam was explaining to Seth what was happening and I was explaining to Sidnie what was happening. It was quite funny, cause even though we explained it, they still had absolutely no clue. They just jumped and cheered their little hearts out when the Lions pulled through at the end! ((We ofcourse had to tell them they won!! haha))
Yesterday was their birthday... one more year and they'll be in the double digits! Woot Woot! We had a small get together with some of my family and enjoyed some cake and ice cream! Slayder all morning was saying it was his cake and he wanted to eat it! Luckily, when the time came to have cake... he was napping and I still don't think he even ever got to eat any! Awh, poor deprived child of mine!
Finally to wrap up what was one of the busiest yet most fun weekends we've had, I took Slayder with me to the airport to pick up a friend. He is currently OBSESSED with airplanes and can hear them when no one else takes a second to listen. He is really very excited about getting to ride on one in 5 days:) Here he is soaking wet, washing his bike in the sprinkler... with nothing but his diaper and a wife beater on, watching a plane fly over... I call us 'City-Billies'.

Camping and Boobies...

This past weekend we went camping... AGAIN. Not that I don't like camping, cause really, I do. It's just not that easy to do with a 2 year old, especially when it rains all night and most of the next day, turning the campground into a virtual mud pit. I was not the most thrilled to be camping in the less than desirable down pour, however, Slayder loved it! He was quite the mess (we also had ribs for dinner, one of his favorite messy things)... We took the 4-wheeler out there for him to ride, which he did ((so did most of the BEER infested adults, who thought that it was hilarious!)), through the biggest puddle he could find... He also enjoyed splashing around in it, as it was quite huge! Okay, okay I played in it with him and so did his daddy! Hey, it was a fun puddle! Plus, Slayder is still so shy, he won't really do anything unless his dad or I am there doing it with him!And Yes, those are BEER cans floating around him in this giant puddle. It became more and more funny to fill the water hole with everyones BEER cans when they were done? Not sure, maybe I should of had some of that BEER, then I would understand!? Needless to say, my momma ended up meeting me and taking Slayder home for the night. I mean really, he was filthy! There was no where for me to bathe him and the drunkards were getting a little crazy for a 2 year old anyways! There was the whole "Beads for Boobies" thing happenin (thanks Rayniece!)... haha, and daddy was doing it too! Well what can I say, the boy loves boobies. ((You notice he has quite a few beads!!))
I think the next time we decide to go camping for the weekend, I will be checking the weather a little more closely... and until then I will continue to kick myself for when I'm in the grocery store and my kid is yelling "Beads for Boobies" to all the chicks going by!

My 'Cool' kid and the things he Says...

So, my kid rocks! Haha. Really, it's hard to believe what he can do/say being only 27 months old. The stuff he says, the way he rolls his eyes and stomps his feet when he doesn't like something. I have to take a step back and look at him sometimes, wondering if he really is only 2 years old. Kids are like sponges... everything he sees or hears he will repeat or copy at one point or another. I've definitely learned that by now. We were in Krogers and this old couple was telling me what a sweet, handsome little boy I had... then he catches a glimpse of the Budweiser and starts yelling "Daddy's BEER mommy, get Daddy's beer!" I just smile at the couple and say... 'no buddy, it's soda!' LoL Yeah right, we all know it's daddy's beer, but I mean geez, does he have to scream it at the top of his lungs at just the perfect moment to embarrass the hell out of me in front of the cute old couple? Or when we are at Steak's Eatery having dinner and Casey and I are just sitting talking quielty to eachother and he starts laughing yelling about how he just farted... I mean, yeah dude, I'm sure by now everyone can smell what just came out of you, but really do we have to yell it and laugh, as though, that's what we do at home?? (It could of only been worse had he of stuck a thumb to his head!!) Having a kid really teaches you a lot. I slammed on my brakes once and he kinda went forward in his car seat and said 'SHIT' as though he knew that was a 'shit' moment. (Needless to say, we watch our mouths now-a-days)... or try to I guess. This boy has no fear. Well let me take that back, when it comes to dangerous stuff he shouldn't be doing... he has no fear. When it comes to a loud car driving down the road, or the dogs barking out of no where, he gets so scared he will almost cry. Weird, right? Cracks me up. He is definitely not scared of getting hurt. He was doing some 'tricks' on his skateboard the other night... he said he was 'cool'. Is it even possible for a toddler to be 'cool'? Should he even know what that is yet?

And really, how 'cool' can you possibly be when you won't take off your Spongebob pajama shirt the enitre day and then proceed to ride your 'baby' bike out in front of the house all evening in it??

This boy is the funniest, smartest, most loving kid I have ever met. Luckily, I was the one choosen to be his mommy. I couldn't possibly love him anymore than I do... even if he does get even 'cooler'!

Uncontainable Excitement...

So we are going on Vacation this year... this is usually an every year kinda thing for us, but we have spent the entire last year ((and every penny we had saved)) gutting a house and completely re-doing it. I wasn't sure this vacation thing was going to happen, but by the Grace of God, it is!! We ((my husband and myself)) need it very badly... probably more so my husband, considering for the last 13 months, he has worked a 40 hour a week job and worked atleast 30 hours a week on that house! He's tired... and I'm tired of watching him, or missing him, which ever.

Also, we are flying down this year ((the drive is rotten with 3 kids!!)). This will be the first airplane ride for all the kids and they are super stoked! That makes me smile:)

((Our Family Photo from Myrtle Beach last year))
I don't know how many people have been to Myrtle Beach in their lives, but that place ROCKS! You can go if your wealthy and have a blast, or you can go if your broke and have a blast. Plus, there's the ocean and a gi-normous beach... I mean what more could a person want?? LoL

I'm so happy that things have turned out like they have.
I'm a very lucky person.

New to This...

So I sit here, damn near everyday, and I read and read. It started with my friend Sadie... I read every blog she ever wrote (psycho, I know) and it just progressed from there. People write some funny shit and I truely enjoy reading about their life stories or the way their kids were screaming through the grocery store having melt downs. I guess in a way, it all kinda makes me feel like my life is a bit more normal than I thought it was. So here I am, creating my own... it may not be as hilarious as those that I have read... but damnit, my kid has meltdowns too. Maybe if I write about them on here, I can use them against him one day! LoL :)

((He is just adorable though... if I don't mind saying so myself. And I don't.))
